Health Benefits of Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Today, there is a large push by doctors, health food advocates, and many others to get enough Omega 3 fatty acids into your diet.  Whether or not you will immediately benefit from the Omega 3 fatty acids, or you are going to use it more for preventive measures, it is good to eat enough of the foods that contain these fatty acids and get the true benefits from them.  It is important to have a diet that is rich and loaded with these fatty acids so that your body is getting the benefit from it.

  • Omega 3 Fatty Acids are Great for the Heart

The biggest benefit of the Omega 3 fatty acids is what they can do for the heart.  For a lot of people having a diet rich in these is important because it will either help prevent future issues or it may help lower certain levels within the body.  One of the biggest benefits of these fatty acids is that they can help lower cholesterol levels.  What the Omega 3 fatty acid does for the body is provide the good levels of cholesterol that help lower the bad levels of cholesterol.  There also is a correlation with the Omega 3’s lowering blood pressure levels also.  There is definitely not any reason to shy away from it!

  • Omega 3 Fatty Acids are Great for the Mind

Another correlation that is being linked with Omega 3 fatty acids is that they may be able to help improve memory and block Alzheimer’s from getting worse or invading the body.  The link between these fatty acids and Alzheimer’s, while it hasn’t moved much farther than a hypothesis that is being tested, it is looking good.  What the Omega 3 fatty acids can potentially do is help coat the receptors that are causing Alzheimer’s and block it.

With the health benefits that Omega 3 fatty acids have, it is important to take advantage of them.  For people that suffer from high cholesterol or high blood pressure, or have a family history of it, use the fatty acids to help lower it.  Plus, with the benefits that it may provide for the mind and helping to block Alzheimer’s, you have nothing to lose!
